  • RCB take on GT in the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
  • The ongoing season has been dominated by high-scoring fixtures.
  • We look at the 3 highest scores in IPL final history.

IPL 2026 has mostly seen high-scoring affairs. Between the two finalists RCB and GT have crossed the 220-mark on six occasions. And given how this season has gone, one would be forgiven for expecting a high-scoring final too. However, finals in the past haven’t really seen the kind of totals that we have seen so far in the tournament.

There have only six instances of 200+ being scored in the IPL, with four of those coming in winning causes. However, we are yet to see the 220 barrier being crossed in an IPL final.

3 highest scores in IPL finals

With Ahmedabad set to host the IPL 2026 final on Sunday, we look forward to the game by looking back at the three highest scores in IPL finals.

CSK – 205/5 vs RCB, Chennai (IPL 2011)

MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first ahead of a high-pressure final. CSK’s legendary openers, Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay, made merry. They put on 159 runs before Hussey was dismissed in the 15th over.

Vijay hit four fours and six sixes on his way to a 52-ball 95, agonisingly short of becoming the first player to score a century in an IPL final. A cameo from MS Dhoni did help them CSK cross the 200-mark in an IPL final, however.

They eventually ended the innings at 205-5 in their 20 overs, before restricting RCB to 147-8. The 58-run win brought them their second-ever IPL title. The margin of victory is still the highest in terms of runs in IPL final history.

SRH – 208/7 vs RCB, Bengaluru (IPL 2016)

Having won the toss and chosen to bat, captain David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan got SRH going right away. Dhawan was dismissed for 28 right after the powerplay, with the team now on 63.

Warner top scored for Hyderabad with 69, with Yuvraj Singh also playing a helpful hand for his 38. All-rounder Ben Cutting then came out all guns blazing, scoring 39 off just 15 balls, helping SRH to 208-7.

Player of the Match Cutting would also chip in with two wickets as SRH kept RCB to 200-8. SRH’s eight-run win saw them win their first-ever IPL title.

GT – 214/4 vs CSK, Ahmedabad (IPL 2023)

Having been asked to bat by CSK, the Gujarat Titans got off to a great start. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha put on 62 runs in the powerplay before Gill was dismissed (39) at the end of the seventh over.

Sai Sudharsan joined Saha out in the middle and kept the runs flowing. Saha was finally dismissed for a well-made 54, but Sudharsan kept going. The stylish left-hander was eventually dismissed for a clutch 96 off just 47 balls in a clutch match. Add a cameo from captain Hardik Pandya, and GT scored 214-4 in their 20 overs.

It wouldn’t be enough, however. Ravindra Jadeja scored 10 runs off the last two balls as CSK chased down the rain-adjusted target of 171 runs in 15 overs to win their fifth IPL title.
