The Royal Challengers Bengaluru stormed into the IPL 2026 final, registering the first-ever 250+ score in an IPL playoff game. While the batting-friendliness of the IPL has seen some big scores in the past, that hasn’t necessarily translated to the playoffs as much.

However, all that changed on Tuesday. Powered by captain Rajat Patidar’s swashbuckling unbeaten 93, RCB scored 254-5 on their way to a 92-run win in Qualifier 1.

3 highest scores in IPL playoff matches

Inspired by RCB’s fireworks, we look at the three highest scores in IPL playoff games in this article.

Mumbai Indians – 228/5 vs GT, Eliminator (2025)

Although it now feels like a story of the past, the Mumbai Indians were in the playoffs as recently as last year. Having elected to bat in the eliminator, MI got off to an electrifying start.

Jonny Bairstow blazed through the Gujarat Titans bowling attack to take MI to 79 without loss in the powerplay. He would depart soon after for 47. But Rohit Sharma kept the party going.

Sharma continued to attack before he was dismissed for a well-made 81. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma and captain Hardik Pandya all played a useful hand as they took MI to 228-5 in their 20 overs. That would be enough to take them to victory by 20 runs at New Chandigarh.

Gujarat Titans – 233/3 vs MI, Qualifier 2 (2023)

Two years before MI meted out that punishment in the 2025 Eliminator, GT had dished out some of their own. After being asked to bat first, Shubman Gill and Gujarat got off to a steady start, scoring 50 in the powerplay.

While Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed soon after, Gill kept going. The stylish opener would target Akash Madhwal and Cameron Green, taking them for plenty. Gill eventually did fall to Madhwal. However, by then, he had already recorded the highest individual score in an IPL playoff match yet. 129 off 60 balls.

Although Sai Sudharsan was retired out for 43 off 31 balls, Hardik Pandya’s cameo at the end took GT to 233-3 in their 20 overs, enough to see them register a 62-run win and take them into the final.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 254/5 vs GT, Qualifier 1 (2026)

Yet another Gujarat Titans IPL playoff match, yet another massive total. This time, the equation stood against them. Captain Shubman Gill won the toss and put RCB in to bat. The Bengaluru top order got them off to an excellent start, scoring 76-1 in six overs.

However, they lost both set batters Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal in the same over, thus losing their momentum. Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya walked in. A 95-run stand later, RCB were back on top.

Patidar was the star of the show, finishing with an unbeaten 93 off just 33 balls. He relentlessly attacked the GT bowlers, even after Pandya was dismissed for 43. Bengaluru scored 114 runs in their last six overs as they posted a mammoth 254-5 in their allotted 20 overs. An excellent performance from the RCB bowling unit then saw them comfortably win by 92 runs and enter the final.
