  • Mo Bobat praised RCB’s collective team effort.
  • Patidar smashed unbeaten 93 off just 33 balls.
  • RCB reached consecutive IPL finals for second season.

Mo Bobat, the director of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has praised the team for “collective contributions” and a fearless approach after the defending champions defeated Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1.

Rajat Patidar’s team marched towards the final for the second consecutive time. During Qualifier 1, the captain led the side as he scored a brilliant unbeaten 93 off 33 balls, helping the team reach a total of 254 for five. However, bowlers also did their work as GT were bundled out for 162 runs.

The most important lesson from RCB’s winning streak over the last two seasons, according to Bobat, is how many players have regularly performed well under pressure situations.

“I’m especially pleased that we’ve got a number of people contributing to wins. We’re not too dependent on one or two players with the bat or one or two with the ball. We’ve got a number of people contributing, and that’s the really pleasing thing,” Bobat said after the 92-run win.

“If everybody contributes and fulfills their roles, then results should take care of themselves. That’s probably the most encouraging thing to come out of today’s game, as well as the fact that obviously you’re into the final,” he added.

Rajat Patidar turn the match to RCB side

After RCB lost a few early wickets, skipper Patidar’s powerful performance destroyed the GT bowling attack, earning Bobat particular recognition. Dharamsala crowds saw it from the captain himself after he blazed through the last five overs. In the last five overs, RCB scored more than 100 runs, completely turning the game around as they took the match away from GT.

“He’s certainly batting brilliantly right now and that was a really special knock today. I’m sure he’ll be really pleased about being able to stand up in a big qualifier and a big game. I think any team that’s got the captain playing well, it fills them with even greater confidence. He is leading by example.”

RCB reaches back-to-back IPL finals under Rajat Patidar’s leadership

RCB are now only the fourth team in IPL history to advance to consecutive finals. Meanwhile Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals in Eliminator. The winner of the game will face GT in the Qualifier 2.

While Patidar’s team will get enough time to get ready for the final. The final clash of IPL 2026 is set on May 31 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
