On Saturday, May 23, Arjun Tendulkar made his Lucknow Super Giants debut and excelled. Former Indian player Sachin Tendulkar who is father of Arjun Tendulkar did not hold back to prasie his son debut match for LSG in IPL 2026.

At the Ekana Stadium, Arjun bowled his allotted four overs against Punjab Kings, taking out Prabhsimran Singh with a scorching yorker. Following Arjun’s performance, father Sachin Tendulkar wrote a rare remark about his son on X, praising the left-arm bowler for his dedication to the game and hard work. Immediately following the match, Sachin sent an emotional message on social media.

Sachin, who never discusses his son’s cricket career in public, commended Arjun for persevering and working hard behind the scenes, even though he had to wait until the season’s last league-stage match for a chance.

“Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you’ve carried yourself through this season, always believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to wait for your opportunity till the very last match. Cricket tests patience as much as skill, and you handled both beautifully today. Keep your feet on the ground, and continue being in love with the game like you always have. Love you always,” Sachin wrote on X.

In 2023, Sachin made his final public statement about his son’s cricket career in response to Arjun’s IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians. Cricket fans, many of whom had been excited to finally witness Arjun bowl consistently at the IPL level, may have also found great resonance in Saturday’s message.

Arjun Tendulkar shows promise despite expensive spell on LSG debut

Rishabh Pant quickly summoned Arjun Tendulkar into the attack following the power play. With a succession of well-placed bouncers that took Prabhsimran Singh by surprise, the left-arm bowler got off to a confident start. Prabhsimran edged one down the leg side in Pant’s direction, defeated by the trajectory and additional bounce. Arjun might have made an early breakthrough on debut, but the LSG skipper was unable to cling onto the opportunity.

Arjun maintained his coolness in spite of the lost chance. He hit his target again and finished the first over neatly, giving up only four runs and not a single boundary. However, Arjun’s second over turned out to be a little more costly. In order to score 15 runs from the over, Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran utilized their feet deftly against the inexperienced player, scoring two boundaries and a six.

In his third over, the fifteenth of the innings, Arjun cleverly changed his angles after seeing that the hitters were charging at him. The inexperienced player struggled to restrain the Punjab captain at that point, as Shreyas had already started to dominate the bowling assault on his way to an incredible century.

Arjun shines on LSG debut

The 17th over of the innings, which was Arjun’s last, was likewise outstanding. Despite Punjab finally chasing down the target, he bowled at the end under pressure, giving up only five runs and displaying excellent control. The squad lost 49 runs when Prabhsimran Singh was dropped by Rishabh Pant. Things may have turned out differently on Saturday if Pant had hung onto Arjun’s crisp bouncer.

At the Ekana, Arjun displayed remarkable patience and finished with numbers of 4-0-36-1, including two outstanding overs at the beginning and the conclusion. He was the most cost-effective bowler for Lucknow on Saturday.
