- Heinrich Klaasen crossed 600 runs batting at No. 4 or lower.
- Klaasen became first player achieving feat in T20 history.
- Previous record belonged to Rishabh Pant with 579 runs.
In their 14th league game of the current season, Heinrich Klaasen—possibly Sunrisers Hyderabad’s finest hitter in IPL 2026—became the first player in history to achieve 600 runs or more in a T20 series while batting at No. 4 or below.
In the 15th over of SRH’s innings on Friday, May 22, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Hyderabad, Klaasen, who was retained by SRH for Rs 23 crore before the IPL 2025 super auction, required 45 runs to surpass the 600-run mark in IPL 2026. Prior to Klaasen, Rishabh Pant held the record for the most runs scored by a hitter batting at No. 4 or below in a Twenty20 series or competition.
In 11 innings with the Delhi Capitals in the 2018 Indian Premier League, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter scored 579 runs. Klaasen has amassed 606 runs in IPL 2026. On Friday, he scored 51 runs off 24 balls for SRH in front of home supporters. In the IPL this year, he has smashed six half-centuries.

Heinrich Klaasen shines as SRH crush RCB
In IPL 2026, Klaasen is SRH’s top run scorer. He hit two fours and five sixes for the Pat Cummins-led team during his time at the bat on Friday against RCB. In the seventeenth over, Krunal Pandya sent Klaasen to the pavilion. Venkatesh Iyer caught him when he tried to play a huge shot on the second ball. However, Klaasen contributed 113 runs for the third wicket with Ishan Kishan from just 48 balls before returning to the pavilion.
Ishan has scored a half-century for SRH in the current game, just like Klaasen. Klaasen was batting on 66 runs off 36 balls when he was dismissed. Even though RCB lost by 55 runs after giving up a horrific 255 for 4, the gap nevertheless worked in their favor statistically since they maintained their lead over SRH on Net Run Rate and therefore gained
Because Qualifier 1 provides two opportunities to go to the final, that advantage is enormous in terms of the IPL. RCB will still have another chance to play the Eliminator winner even if they lose that match.
