When the renowned Mahendra Singh Dhoni came out for the team photo during the Chennai Super Kings’ crucial match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 18, 2026, the Chepauk fans came together.
Despite not being in the starting lineup, the five-time IPL champion captain’s presence on the field made an emotional evening unforgettable for CSK supporters amid mounting rumors that this could be his last IPL season.
CSK’s final IPL 2026 home game was against SRH at the M A Chidambaram Stadium; however, 44-year-old Dhoni’s much-anticipated comeback never materialised.
Due to ongoing physical issues, the seasoned batsman-wicketkeeper has already missed 13 games this season. Dhoni was sidelined since the beginning of the tournament due to a severe calf strain he sustained during preseason training.
