Virat Kohli etched his name deeper into cricket history with a breathtaking unbeaten century that carried Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a six wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026 on Wednesday.

The RCB talisman became the first Indian and only the sixth batter in the world to cross 14,000 runs in T20 cricket during his match winning knock of 105 not out from 60 balls in Raipur. It was another glittering landmark in a format Kohli has dominated for more than a decade.

Chasing a challenging target of 193 Kohli delivered a masterclass in control and composure as Bengaluru finished on 194/4 in 19.1 overs. The veteran batter struck 11 fours and three sixes while barely putting a foot wrong in a chase that lifted RCB back to the top of the IPL 2026 table with 16 points from 12 matches.

Kohli Reaches Historic T20 Milestone

The century was Kohli’s 10th in T20 cricket and his ninth for RCB in the IPL. In reaching the milestone he also became the fastest player to 14,000 T20 runs achieving the feat in just 409 innings.

Only Chris Gayle with 14,562 runs Kieron Pollard with 14,482 Alex Hales with 14,449 David Warner with 14,284 and Jos Buttler with 14,200 are ahead of him on the all time list.

Kohli’s innings arrived at the perfect moment for Bengaluru after the former captain endured a rare lean spell across his previous three matches. From the opening over he looked locked in punching Vaibhav Arora for four boundaries in a statement start that immediately put KKR on the back foot.

He then shared a polished 92 run stand with Devdutt Padikkal who added 39 as RCB calmly kept pace with the asking rate. KKR threatened briefly through Kartik Tyagi who claimed 3/32 but Kohli shut the door in emphatic fashion with a late burst that brought up his century off just 58 balls.

The victory pushed RCB back to the top of the standings and strengthened their push toward the IPL 2026 playoffs.

Raghuvanshi and Rinku Shine for KKR

Earlier KKR had posted a competitive 192/4 thanks to a superb 71 from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and an unbeaten 49 from Rinku Singh.

Raghuvanshi anchored the innings with maturity beyond his years while Rinku provided the finishing touches during the death overs. Cameron Green also chipped in with a brisk 32 from 24 balls.

Despite the strong total KKR were unable to contain Kohli who once again proved why he remains one of the defining players of the T20 era.
